(뉴욕 2021년 8월 2일 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) 오늘, 포춘은 2020년 회계 연도의 매출액을 기준으로 전 세계 최대 기업 순위인 포춘 글로벌 500대 기업을 발표했다. 월마트가 8년 연속 1위를 차지했으며 1995년 이후 16번 1위에 오른 셈이다. 중국 본토(홍콩 포함)가 다시 한번 가장 많은 기업을 순위에 올렸으며 135개 업체로 작년에 비해 11개사가 늘었다. 대만을 포함할 경우, 중화권 전체로는 143개사가 된다. 미국은 122개사로 1개사가 늘었고, 일본은 변동 없이 총 53개사가 순위에 들었다. 2021년 목록에 오른 기업들은 전 세계 220개 도시, 31개 국가에 본사를 둔 기업들이다. 올해 포춘 글로벌 500대 기업의 여성 CEO는 23명으로, 작년에 비해 9명이 증가했다.

포춘 글로벌 500대 기업들의 전체 매출액은 전 세계 GDP의 3분의 1을 넘었다. 동 기업들은 매출액 31조 7천억 달러(5% 감소), 순익 1조 6천억 달러(20% 감소)를 올렸으며 전 세계에서 6천 970만 명을 고용하고 있다.

NEW YORK, Aug. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, FORTUNE announced the FORTUNE Global 500 for the 2020 fiscal year, ranking the world's largest corporations by revenue. Walmart claimed the top spot for the eighth consecutive year, and for the 16th time since 1995. Mainland China (including Hong Kong) once again has the most companies on the list, up 11 from last year with 135. Adding Taiwan, the total for Greater China is 143. The U.S. is up one with 122, and Japan held steady with a total of 53. The companies on the 2021 list are based in 220 cities and 31 countries around the world. This year there are 23 women CEOs of FORTUNE Global 500 companies, nine more than last year.

FORTUNE Global 500 companies generated revenues totaling more than one-third of the world's GDP. They generated $31.7 trillion in revenues (down 5%), $1.6 trillion in profits (down 20%) and employ 69.7 million people worldwide.

Apple (No. 6) netted $57 billion in profits, and is the FORTUNE Global 500's most profitable company in 2021, ending Saudi Aramco's (No. 14) two-year reign.

Of the 2021 rankings, FORTUNE List Editor Scott DeCarlo says, "The radical changes the pandemic has wrought will have long-term implications for businesses worldwide.
